New Junk Loot Spawn Locations

by credits on Mar.13, 2010, under Swg Credits

Since the RE Junk Loot Insta-Respawn nerf, I was just wondering if anyone had some locations which were still viable for farming junk loot. I have used the Slum Thieves outside of Espa which have about a 10-20 sec spawn timer, but it is still just not the same. Are there any other good locations which could be done either AFK or ATK to produce large stacks of loot in a reasonable amount of time? Any information would be helpful and feel free to PM me if you are not comfortable posting. Best wishes and have a good one! Also I am a full member so if there is a topic on this already in one of the other sections, a link would be super handy!
Yes we all want to loot, but if you are monopolizing a legacy spawn (Mos Espa Thieves for example) you are violating the rules and hindering lower level toons.

Now if you are sitting on one spawn of 4 NPCs and not affecting the other spawns of which there are 5-6 total. Then you should not be bothered by a GM.

I have talked to a number in excess of 7-8 different GMs of various levels and they all pretty much say the same thing, that you can not own the entire spawn and there for hinder other players. I have the tickets and the chat logs saying this very same thing as I have been reported by others only to just get asked to move or told as I stated above. In order to get perma-banned you have to do somethign really stupid. I have been farming that area on my server for nearly 7 months and the worst I got was moved to a different location while AFK.

Also having the AFK tag over your toon is a billboard for getting flagged for a ticket. I report anyone I see monopolizing the spawns and have talked to a number of GMs when approached in game. If you are goin gto AFK in that location don’t use “blink” or similar macros they are obvious, spamming chat is just stupid as well that is advertising you are AFK. If someone comments to me about not responding I fire back with there is nothing in the rules that says I have to respond to a tell/GM and in that, they can’t say a word.

I use:
/mood obnoxious;
/pause 1200;
/macro afk;

Thus never go AFK.

Since the insta spawns are no good, now GMs are much more likely to respond to locations like Mos Espa and probably quick in response time.

You can farm you just have to be smart about it. If you don’t, you reap what you sew.

Creative ways with 4 accounts to get considerable GCW

by credits on Mar.13, 2010, under Swg Credits

Reading an old guide about doing faction missiong from terminals. And it got me thinking, because im about to do a similar thing but with creatures. I need to get some hide. Go out with what ever toons u want gcw on, and bring your other toons along. Have them running an afk assist macro for extra dps. Then just run between two of the missions all your toons got, and the npcs will hopefully respawn by the time you switch mission spawn locations. Eventually i think they will stop respawning this way, and you can blow up the tiny lil base for like 22 gcw points. Other than that i heard you can get around 2-3k gcw an hour in deep space. I also was reading that you can grind an ent up, or if you already have a lvl 90 that you want to make the opposite faciton you can do that. Go to a static base and go overt/SF and just have them run in and kill each other. You can do this about 10 times for each character per day. I would have both characters farm gcw off each other, because the higher rank that one of ur toons is, the more gcw the other toon will get for the kill. Plus the static bases give some not so bad gcw for very little effort.

Fight the Sith Thugs And Not Get Killed

by credits on Jan.04, 2010, under Swg Credits

1. Go through this checklist of stuff.

2. At the very least novice medic, preferably Pharmacology 4 with some decent stim Ds

3. A mastered combat profession. If you aren’t master, you have no business trying these.

4. GOOD armor. 80% kinetic isn’t good armor. With the latest patch changes, the NPCs will use a wide variety of weapons in ranged and melee combat. A wide variety of weapons means a wide variety of damage types. When you have a thug pull a powerhammer on you and you’re wearing 80% kinetic 60% base armor, you’ll realize very fast that medium AR blast damage practically cuts straight through it. I personally use 27% stun 70% base armor sliced for effectiveness, so all my resists (minus stun and lightsaber) exceed 80%. The stun protection is in case a thug whips out a tangle pistol or a stun baton. In which case, the stun protections buys me enough time to run away, DON’T FIGHT A THUG WITH A STUN BATON. They will kill you, or mess you up bad enough for their friend to finish the job.

5. Proper weapons. Although your 500 damage geo blaster can do a number on people in pvp, after medium AR and 80% resists, you might as well be shooting them with spitwads. Use the weapon with the highest armor piercing you have access to (T21, laser carbine, republic blaster, vibro blade, scythe/powerhammer, LVA, VK), and go for pool directed attacks.

6. Use intimidate. If you don’t have intimidate, pick up novice brawler. Intimidate decreases your opponet’s damage output by 50% for 30 seconds when it lands. For all intensive purposes, it basically doubles your HAM if you keep the enemy intimidated. This can and will make you last a lot longer in almost any PvE/PvP encounter you come across.

7. Pull the enemies one at a time. If you are a ranged fighter, go prone, and hit a bleed (healthshot1, actionshot1, mindshot1, torso shot, bleedshot) and peace. The enemy will not aggro you until the bleed ticks. In the “grace period” run out of range of the thug. He will aggro you, and run towards you until he is in range. By now you should have been able to get far enough away from the other thugs so that they will not join in on the fun. If you’re melee, you have to be much more careful with pulling the thugs. If you walk really slowly towards the thugs, they will all aggro you at once when you get close to one. Instead, try walking towards one, then running away from it. Keep doing this, progressively getting closer, until you are finally aggroed.

8. Use foods. Your best bet would be two varsarian brandies. If you’re a rifleman, or a non-human character with low mind stats, use an arisha too. If you get into a sticky situation and need to buy some time, use a synthsteak. Depending on the stats, it will decrease the incoming damage by 35-45% for about 30-40 attacks. NPCs fire once every two seconds, so that synthsteak will last about a minute. The combination of synthsteak and intimidate can make the meanest thugs hit about as hard as a Stormtrooper.

9. Play it smart and be prepared. Don’t run in with broken armor (check it first!), have your foods out of the crate, have stims out of the crate, and make sure you know what your plan is.

10. Know how you can fight. A TKM/Doc has no ranged mitigation. You’ll be hit 3-4 times harder when they use ranged weapons on you, as opposed to if you had ranged mitigation. Same thing when ranged players fight against melee. Melee vs melee on the other hand, you will not be hit as hard, and your toughness (unarmed toughness, 1-hand toughness, 2-hand toughness, polearm toughness) provides a direct percent decrease on incoming MELEE damage. The best way to get the thugs to go melee, is to hide behind a tree when they have you arrgoed. When they get in range, intimidate them and hit away. They will go melee pretty quickly. Melee toughness only applies when you are holding the applicable melee weapon in your hands.

11. Finally, do take some friends. Not only will the quest be easier, but the time passes a lot quicker when you have someone else helping. Not to mention the obvious safety bonuses of having another person with you.

New SWG Dev Diary: Balance

by credits4swg on Nov.13, 2009, under Swg Credits, SWG GUIDE

Remember this dev diary? The author of that returns to give us a look into the game’s design, specifically game balance between NPCs and creatures. An excerpt:

When approaching a systemic issue such as creature balance, you would not normally modify only one statistic. Modifying one statistic for creature balance makes your creatures bland and boring during combat. Our current game does not rely on a single statistic for combat. We use a master data table that is level based, which means the statistics rise as the level increases.

Farm Armor loot

1) So, first to the preperations. I had an ent buff (armor, ACR and crit. dunno if kin is in DWB, but just to be on safe side i had it). Then i had pups for crit. No medic buffs or heroic set though. So having those would also be advantagous. I had a 3×30 suit with str/camo/stam as well. But after u get started its pretty easy. Get a droid, preferably a combat droid lvl 60. Now, get access to the death watch bunker.

2) So, go down to the first square area where the mandalorians are located. Stay cloaked and call out your droid. Now make him attack one of the mandalorians, until he says soemthing like “Intruder located, I need reinforcements!”. When he says this, pack up your droid again, or wait until hes down.
Now there should spawn more mandalorians that walk into the room. Do the same with these. Then there should spawn a special NPC with a name. so not “bloodguard bla” or whatever theyre called. Rageon Wrath or something was his name if i recall correctly. Now comes the difficult part. You will have to kill him as soon as he spawns, or wait until hes at a position where you wont get agro from other NPCs. It took me one or two tries, but eventually i managed to kill him. If you can’t make it on your own, get a friend to help you, they can leave after he’s dead. Make sure to “Steal” from all NPCs you see on the way. Don’t bother with the droids, since those don’t have anything on them i think. When stealing you should get the same kind of armor loot as if you were killing them (so 20 to 25s, single to quad statted).

3)After you killed the named NPC and got the key, proceed down to the next area where the Shuttle is parked. Do the same as before. Make sure to “steal” all the NPC that appear. If you are confident you can attempt to kill the 2nd named NPC, but its not really needed.

4) After you stole from all of them, move back to the first square. By the time you r done with the 2nd spawn, the NPC from the first one will have dissappeared again.

5)So go back up, and repeat the procedure, but this time you don’t need to kill the named NPC, since you got the access already. Steal from all the NPC, and then go down again. By the time you are done at the top, those at the 2nd square are gone again. Rinse and repeat as long as you like. This got me some good armor loot for RE. Yes, its not THE quickest way, but its a nice comparativly easy way to get armor loot. and since the NPC respawn, you can go on infinitly.

Anyways, dunno if this is still possible or someone posted this already, but i thought this up myself, so dunno if any1 had a similar idea.
Also, theres always a risk that the NPC “catch” you while you try to steal from them (i think it doesnt matter how high your camo is, it happened to me while i had 300 something camo), so be ready to smoke bomb away incase you get caught.
