SWG Galactic Civil War 2 – Space Update

by credits4swg on Jun.26, 2011, under Swg Credits

We all know that space has needed some help in SWG for a while. It’s still reayyl awesome but it needs more. It looks like they’re working on it, and it looks good.

In addition to new GCW scenarios in space, they are also introducing the ACE Pilot System where you can battle against some of the best pilots from classic Star Wars™ lore. How would you fare against Wedge Antilles or other famous Star Wars characters? Find out in the GCW2 Space Update coming soon to a galaxy near you! I cant wait!!

Being able to fly against Wedge or maybe even Anakin, what a hoot that would be. He was supposed to be one of the best!! I’m interested to see these new scenarios they have lined up for us and there better be more than 1 for each faction.

Welcome back everyone! It’s great seeing you in the game and on the forums again. As part of our “Make Good” program, every active SWG account is receiving a Boba Fett Slave ITM miniature ship model with our thanks. We are also running the Bonus Everything Weekend from now until the Tuesday after Memorial Day!

The team has been working hard on the next game update, Bounty Hunting in Space, which is scheduled to go live this week. With this update, we have added a new domestics product called “Synthetic Bait” to make fishing a little easier for all those anglers out there (and we made the odds better too). Oh, the fish are already jumping out of the lakes in anticipation!

And, we are making great progress on the Galactic Civil War 2 – Space Update. In addition to new GCW scenarios in space, we will also be introducing the ACE Pilot System where you can battle against some of the best pilots from classic Star Wars™ lore. SWG Spy Abilities Guide

by credits on Jan.05, 2011, under SWG GUIDE

In the galactic civil war that Star Wars Galaxies players participate every time they log into the game, not every character class is full of romance or attempts to gather the glory to itself. There is one class in Star Wars Galaxies that is extremely important to the war efforts of both the Empire and the Rebellion that gets little to no attention. The spy sneaks through the galaxy trying to steal the secrets of opponents while trying to avoid detection.

To level up as a spy in Star Wars Galaxies a player will need to have is character rely on stealth, poisons, and dirty tricks to increase his combat level and gain expertises. The abilities available to a spy in Star Wars Galaxies make this process easier as he levels up. This article will guide you through the steps on how to be an effective spy when gaining combat levels.

Stealth: the Most Important Spy Weapon
It is important for a spy not to get caught when trying to steal secrets. With dark Jedi running around making far more inventive and easier torture options available in the Star Wars Galaxies universe than those used in the real world, it is important not to end up in their hands or in the hands of the rebellion depending on which side you’re on. Luke Skywalker’s whining has been banned as an interrogation method on 30 planets. As a spy in Star Wars Galaxies increases his combat level, he will gain tricks that enable him to strike from the shadows.

The abilities you learn as a spy increases as your combat levels go up. The hiding abilities are:

Sneak
Skulk
Shroud
Vanish
As =a spy tgains experience as a Star Wars Galaxies he tries to avoid detection by enemies by going behind their backs. At higher levels a combination of skills and technological marvels, your spy can literally disappear from sight. How long a spy can perform this amazing feat depends on your stats. Not only do these abilities allow your Star Wars Galaxies spy to avoid detection, these abilities also allow you to strike deadly blows against your opponents from the shadows.

Ranged abilities and poisoned traps help take down the spy’s foe to help him extract the vital information for his side. Even a complete neophyte will figure out when and how to use them soon enough, but you need to know what the ranged combat abilities are before your spy can use them.

Using Poison Traps and Ranged Abilities in Star Wars Galaxies
The professional thieves of secrets in the Star Wars Universe are not expected to rely on stealth alone, but carrying around a large, high-damage weapon tends to attract unwanted attention from the law enforcement on the planet where you are carrying out your mission. There are times when a simple blaster is not enough. When you find you need more firepower, your spy gets to use even more cool spy high technology of the Star Wars Galaxies universe to make sure your shots pack enough punch.

The three ranged abilities are poisoned fang, flash bang, and Arachnine’s web. The first is a simple poisoned dart attack used best at range. Flash bang is a grenade attack that blinds the spy’s opponent and lowers accuracy and Arachnine’s web is an escape ability that slows the opponent buying you time to get away from your enemies.

The ranged combat abilities are nice to use, but if you want to master the spy arts, you must learn to combine them with traps to make sure to take your opponents down so that you get the experience to progress to the highest combat levels.

Star Wars Galaxies : Looking Ahead to 2011

by cow on Jan.01, 2011, under SWG News

In the final Star Wars Galaxies producer’s letter for 2010, Tony “Teesquared” Tyson talks about some of the bigger news of the year, not the least of which is the Witches of Dathomir update that is now live. In addition, Tyson talks a bit about the plans for the upcoming year.

And we’ll give you MORE =]. The long awaited Officer update will be coming out early next year. Hjal has already started discussion with the Officer Senator and the work has begun. The Galactic Civil War 2 update is also first on the list for next year. As mentioned before, this update will have a focus on space and player cities. We will also be adding more ways to discover Rare Loot System chests that don’t involve combat.

The dev team likes to give out surprises. Every once in a while we find surprises too. We discovered some, what we believe to be, “never before released” structures in our game. Well we’ll be giving these to you next year as well.

GCW Memories

by credits4swg on Mar.25, 2010, under swg characters, SWG Credit Farming Guide, Swg Credits

I was never that much into the Galactic Civil War, primarily because I don’t care for PvP. The GCW update is on the Test Servers now, and the initial response has been good. I do have memories of the old pre-CU GCW.

I remember landing at a player city shuttle and not seeing the Faction Scanners right at the landing. You would get flagged and blown up from the Mine Field as soon as you stepped off the Shuttle platform. At the time I was annoyed at the inconvenience of having to clone before continuing what I was doing, but now it is a fond memory.

I also have an old crate on Anti-Vehicle Mines still. I doubt they will be usefull again, maybe there is Museum on Flurry that would take them

Free Month of SWG for Former Players

by credits4swg on Mar.25, 2010, under swg characters, SWG Credit Farming Guide, Swg Credits

One free month for returning players is a great idea, imo. Bringing them back for the revamped Galactic Civil War may be great incentive for former players to resub. The following is from HeartlessGamer.com:

Return to the Galaxy for FREE
Any player that has previously subscribed to Star Wars Galaxies will be able to play the game free of charge between February 1st and March 1st.

No, this is not out of the kindness of SOE’s heart. Its an offer to promote their upcoming Galactic Civil War expansion: Forces Under Siege. This would be the expansion where SOE finally realizes that there is a galactic civil war occurring during the Star Wars classic time line.

Any old-school player (that means pre-NGE) will probably remember little to nothing about the galactic civil war from the original game, because there wasn’t one. Sure, Rebels and Imperial scum could chase each other around and spam knockdowns, but it was for no gain to either faction. It was nothing more than a constant gankfest at each of the spaceports. It sucked. No, it really, really sucked.

However, the new expansion approach to the GCW isn’t going to tempt me back into the game. I only mention it because its a free month of play for a MMOG, a Star Wars MMOG no less.

Galactic Civil War: Forces Under Siege

by credits4swg on Mar.25, 2010, under swg characters, SWG Credit Farming Guide, Swg Credits

When I get a new gadget, I like to try it out before reading the Owners Manual.

I do the same with SWG Updates and Publishes. Just dive in and figure things out.

I buffed up my Imperial Medic and headed to Bestine. There I was met by Darth Vader, and took a mission to kill Rebel NPCs.

Oddly, the waypt was for Wayfar, and there are no Rebel NPCs there. I killed the 10 I needed in Anchorhead.

I returned to Vader and he gave me a mission for higher level Rebel NPCs that I found around Bestine.

There was allot of these things around that Traders were adding resources to, so they are not left out.

Publish 15 Trader Stuff

by credits4swg on Mar.25, 2010, under swg characters, SWG Credit Farming Guide, Swg Credits

I woke up late today, but wanted to checkout the Trader stuff from the latest Galactic Civil War publish. I had a short time frame, so logged in and rushed over to Dearic. I found the main Rebel Leader near Dearic City Hall.

I volunteered to be a Mercenary so my Nuetral Trader can contribute to the battles.

I found pillar things and took a Crafting Mission

Tells me I need a Patrol Point Construction Tool. I found the schem in my Generic Crafting Tool.

I need a Adrenalin Stimulant and a Bacta Injector. How do I make/find them?

DOH! Gotta log off and head to work. Better finish this another time, damn
