Star Wars: The Old Republic Trooper Dossier
by credits4swg on Jun.26, 2011, under SWG GUIDE
Last week the latest class video from SWTOR was revealed, highlighting the Republic Trooper. The video showcases some of the incredible weapons and devices Troopers will be able to use to defeat their enemies. With combat experience and intense training, Troopers are able to specialize in different Advanced Classes in order to increase their battlefield prowess and tailor your character to match your playstyle: improve your Trooper’s defensive tactics to become a nearly unstoppable Vanguard, or go all-out on offense and become a deadly Commando.
Tanno Vik the Weequay
The first Trooper companion are are introduced to, Tanno Vik, is an ex-military demolitions expert who really loves his job. A Weequay who impressed his military instructors by always planting explosives where they would do the most damage, the Republic army considered him for the Special Forces division, but his attitude and disregard for authority always held him back. Vik will eventually run into you and become a part of your crew if you pick the Republic Trooper class.
He has been accused of criminal exploits countless times in his past, and those Troopers who wish to keep lawfully aligned might do well to stay weary of this shady character. Still, in a fight, it seems that having Vik on one’s side could mean the difference between victory and defeat. It is a troubling time in the galaxy, and allies of a less savory nature are proving to be invaluable against the New Sith Empire. As long as the profits keep flowing, there should be no complaints from this companion.

Star Wars: The Old Republic camp today
by credits4swg on May.19, 2011, under SWG GUIDE
In today’s updates, the SWTOR devs not only revealed more about the Bounty Hunter profession but also told us that visitors to their PAX booth would be the first of the general public to play the Taral V flashpoint.
The Bounty Hunter page has been overhauled to reflect the advanced classes of Powertech and Mercenary. On the starships page, catch the detailed specs of the Kuat Drive Yards D5-Mantis Patrol Craft — or the D5-Mantis, for those who think KDYD5MPC is a silly acronym. Mako, the Nar Shaddaa slicer, was officially revealed as a companion for the Bounty Hunter. Also, don’t forget the Rattataki species on the inhabitants page. SWTOR fans who were waiting on endgame reveals will hopefully be going to PAX East this year. You will be able to play a Trooper, Smuggler, Jedi Knight, or Jedi Consular in the Republic Taral V flashpoint, with Lead Designer James Ohlen and Lead Writer Daniel Erickson in the booth to answer all your questions. While you’re at booth 912, don’t forget to ask for your invitation to the Community Meet and Greet, which starts directly after the booth closes Saturday night — the event’s at the Westin Boston Waterfront hotel right next to the convention center.

Quest Details: “Jatrian needs you to get some Rogue Stormtroopers.”
Cmdr. Jatrian Lytus says, Good day to you, soldier. I have been briefed on your excellent performance in the field, therefore I am directing this assignment to you. I need you to intercept a squadon of soldiers that have gone rogue. Bring them back here for questioning. Understood?”
You say, “What do you mean ‘gone rogue’?”
Cmdr. Jatrian Lytus says, “We have recieved reports that a group of stormtroopers have been raiding a nearby village known for their vocal sympathy towards rebels. Though I do not tolerate that type of scum, the murder on non-combatants will not be allowed. These stormtroopers are not under my comand, therefore they are obviously deserters and need to be taken care of accordingly.”
You say, “Yes, sir. I’ll leave at once.”
Cmdr. Jatrian Lytus says, “Very good. I would not be surprised to find them reticent to your apprehending them. If they cjoose not to come willingly, then use whatever force is needed. I would prefer the outcome to entail your bringing in at least one of them for questioning.”
There are 2 a stranded Rebel scout’s that attack you, as you get near the Rogue Stormtrooper Commander, they have 8700-8900 hams. Kill them, and then seak to the Rogue Stormtrooper Commander.
When you get close to the Rogue Stormtrooper Commander he says, “Over there… a witness. Take him out before the operation is uncovered.”
Even though the Rogue Stormtrooper Commander is a Red Con when your overt, and has rebel tags, he won’t attack you, unless you attack him.
You talk to the Rogue Stormtrooper Commander.
Rogue Stormtrooper Commander says, “I surrender. Take me to your Commander at once. I am a special agent for the Empire.”
Return to Commander Jatrian Lytus.
Cmdr. Jatrian Lytus says, “You have done well, soldier. This will be marked on your record, I hope you know. As for this commander, I will speak ith him personally and discern why he deserted the Empire.”
Star Wars: The Old Republic rumored for spring in 2011
by credits4swg on May.05, 2011, under SWG GUIDE
A long time from now, in a game store probably not too far away… you might be getting your copy of Star Wars: The Old Republic. Well, all right, spring of 2011 might not be all that far along, but if you’re one of the many eagerly looking forward to Bioware’s entry into the MMO arena, it certainly feels like an eternity.
ShackNews has recently reported on a rumor that John Riccitello, CEO of Electronic Arts, mentioned that they were looking forward to their next big MMO launch in spring of 2011 while discussing the company’s financial outlook. Although he was cautious and stated they had not announced a launch date, he did mention that the team was making “great progress” toward that timeframe.
Obviously, the game was not specified by name, which does technically mean he could have been referring to another game. But unless they’ve secretly been developing Warhammer Online II: The Warhammering, in all likelihood we can expect to see Star Wars: The Old Republic early next year. Which might be good news if you’re a Bioware fan anyway, since Dragon Age: Origins and Mass Effect 2 are making enough of a dent on your wallet this year.
Star Wars Galaxies’ Galactic War update jumps onto test server
by credits4swg on May.05, 2011, under SWG GUIDE
When patches hit the test server, it’s almost like an official patch day, but without the luster of permanence. Still, Star Wars Galaxies players can now check out (and help bug test!) the Galactic War update on the game’s test server. The update is loaded with a substantial ranking system that aims to supply players with a bevy of new rewards to earn — seriously, the amount of rewards is simply staggering.
Seems like a pretty good deal, assuming you’re interested in fighting for your faction. Then again, what member of the Rebels or Empire wouldn’t want to kick butt and take names for, well, glory? Mmm, glory, it’s almost as delicious as bacon with twice the daily fiber content. You can check out the enormous list of new mechanics on the official SWG site, and if you’d like to dive deeper — and maybe give some input — there’s always the official forums, too.
Guide to Lightsaber Crystals and Pearls
by credits4swg on Apr.29, 2011, under SWG GUIDE
The Lightsaber is “an elegant weapon, for a more civilized age”. However, it is hard to get such a lightsaber to work properly, as the beam of light needs to be properly focused to create a stable blade of light that will allow the Jedi to defend oneself and others. Force Crystals are used to focus the blade of the lightsaber. The Jedi has to meditate and infuse them in the Force to tune them to themselves. Only if the crystal is properly tuned to the Jedi and noone else, it will be able to produce the lightsaber blade.
Not only do these crystals give the lightsaber’s blade it’s distinct shape and color, but some of them also said to modify the damage inflicted by the lightsaber through the Force that flows through the elements contained within.
This Guide has been created to provide information about Lightsaber Color Crystals, Power Crystals and Krayt Dragon Pearls.
Color Crystals
Elemental Damage
The Lightsaber’s Elemental Damage Value is determined by the Color Crystal. The elemental damage value is a certain percentage of the total maximum damage value of the Lightsaber and Power Crystals / Krayt Dragon Pearls .
The elemental damage percentage of all color crystals, special or regular, is always the same for each type. It’s pre-determined and nothing can be improved by tuning. Tuning a Color Crystal is simply a predecessor of the Biolink game mechanic.
The following are the Color Crystals that can be found in the Galaxy:

Power Crystals
Depending on the Generation of your Lightsaber, you may add anywhere from 0 (Training Lightsaber) to 5 (5th Generation Lightsaber) Power Crystals to focus the Lightsaber blade’s beam even tighter and increase the damage the strength of the blade to be able to dish out more damage.
It’s a common misconception that the damage values of Power Crystals are determined upon tuning. This isn’t true. The damage values of Power Crystals are determined and fixed once they have been generated by the system (when loot is generated, for example) and just don’t show the damage values until tuned. Tuning them uncovers the values and is otherwise just the predecessor of the Biolink system in the game.
The following optional components can be used to improve your Lightsaber’s damage Output, if tuned correctly to the Force:

Guide to Force Shrines
by credits4swg on Apr.29, 2011, under SWG GUIDE
Introduction
Force shrines are shrines dedicated to the living Force. Force sensitives say they feel their aura in the Force there. In the past, Jedi on the verge of death used to drag their near-dead bodies to such Force shrines where they fell into a healing trance that allowed them to survive, albeit barely. Nowadays this isn’t practiced anymore, but some Jedi have left replacement robes hidden beneath adjacent Force Shrines before battles in order to have fresh clothing afterwards. You may want to check underneath the shrine for items such as this. Jedi also tend to kneel before a force shrine to meditate before it respectfully in order to focus the Force within them and listen for wisdom and advice from ancient Jedi Masters long gone.
Force Shrine Functions
Force shrines have various functions. You can access them by moving the mouse cursor over the Force Shrine and summoning the radial menu (default key: ~). This will present you the following options:
Examine
This radial menu option will examine the force shrine. It works like the /examine command on other in-game items.
Meditate
This radial menu option will allow you to hear random echoes of words of wisdom from ancient Jedi Masters that once meditated at Force Shrines. Note that this only works if you “meditate respectfully”, which means that you have to be in a kneeling position (use the /kneel command) when you click on meditate.
Robe Replacement
This radial menu option will provide you with a replacement Padawan Robe that is the rough equivalent of the Initiate Robe granted at level 22, in case you have lost yours. Note that this only works if you don’t have another Padawan Robe in your inventory, backpack or bandolier. You may leave your other robes in your bank, house or multipassenger ship if you would like to get a replacement Padawan Robe .
There is no emotion, there is peace
This Radial Menu option will provide you with a Shatterpoint Cloak. It will only be available once you have Completed the Master Jedi Cloaks Collection of various Collections (read the Prerequisites section of this guide for details).
/sit down in front of it and use the /meditate ability. Note that this isn’t the same as “meditating respectfully” but the actual /meditate ability from the Jedi Artifact Collection – Meditative Discipline.
Click on the mysterious shrine and open the radial menu. Click on the There is no emotion, there is peace radial menu option to begin reciting the Jedi Code.
After your recital of the Jedi Code you will hear a whispering voice through the Force and a hidden compartment will open to reveal a Shatterpoint Cloak that must have been artfully crafted by an ancient Jedi Master a long time ago. This cloak protects a Force User as well as if not better than any Elder Jedi Robe and has been tailored to allow for more effective lightsaber skills.
Peace is a lie, there is only passion
This Radial Menu option will only be available once you have Completed the Master Jedi Cloaks Collection of various Collections (read the Prerequisites section of this guide for details).
/sit down in front of it and use the /meditate ability. Note that this isn’t the same as “meditating respectfully” but the actual /meditate ability from the Jedi Artifact Collection – Meditative Discipline.
Click on the mysterious shrine and open the radial menu. Click on the Peace is a lie, there is only passion radial menu option to begin reciting the Sith Code.
After your recital of the Sith Code you will hear a booming voice through the Force and a hidden compartment will open to reveal a masterfully crafted Cloak of Hate that must have been artfully crafted by an ancient Sith Lord many millenia ago. This cloak protects a Force User as well as if not better than any Elder Jedi Robe and has been tailored to allow for more efficient use of electrical Force use like Force Lightning.
Prerequisites to gain Access to the Shatterpoint Cloak and Cloak of Hate
The Master Jedi Cloak Collection has to be completed in order to be able to meditate and gain acces to the There is no emotion, there is peace and Peace is a lie, there is only passion radial menu options. To begin it, speak with Matarmeno Krahnn in Tyrena, Corellia ( /wp Corellia -5520, -2643 Matarmeno Krahnn in Tyrena [Begins Master Jedi Cloaks Collection] ) once you reach level 90.
The following Collections must be completed in order to complete the Master Jedi Cloaks Collection. Only if they are all completed, you’ll be able to successfully complete the following steps:
Collect five different Jedi Holocrons and five different Sith Holocrons to complete the Jedi Artifact Collection – Waistpack.
Collect five different Jedi Holocrons and five different Sith Holocrons to complete the Jedi Artifact Collection – Meditative Discipline.
To finish the One-Handed Fifth Generation Lightsaber Collection, you will need to hand in your Jinsu Razer and collect ten Jedi Relics.
Two-Handed Fifth Generation Lightsaber Collection.
To finish the Polearm Fifth Generation Lightsaber Collection.
Defeat the spirit of Jedi Bre’ano Umakk on Dantooine.
Defeat the spirit of Dark Jedi Quillara Adeen on Yavin IV.
Force Shrine Locations
According to ancient data, Force Shrines can be found on the following planets near the given coordinates. However, the coordinates may be a little inaccurate, as the data is old and the coordination wasn’t as accurate back in the days. Tectonic movements on some planets may also have caused a discrepancy.

Guide to Force Protection
by credits4swg on Apr.29, 2011, under SWG GUIDE
As there are now many different forms of robes and cloaks and accessories with different traits, it could be a little confusing which robe, cloak and accessories to go for. Therefore I have decided to write up all the details to guide Jedi to their choice of optimal protection, stats and looks in the form of Jedi Robes and Cloaks that are the most suitable for their individual style and needs.
Jedi Robes
Jedi Robes repesent the traditional, modest uniforms of the Jedi Order that are also being used by force-sensitive splinter groups like the Sith. Like the former, they are made of a special, robust and at the same time light material which provides ideal protection for the Jedi.
They are full body suits that occupy most clothing slots on the character, except the gloves, belt, necklace, wristband and hat slot (except the two Elder Jedi robes, which also take up the hat slot). For example, no backpack, bandolier or cloak can be worn when they are equipped.
There are no race or gender restrictions for wearing Jedi Robes, although the boots will be invisible on Trandoshan characters.

Jedi Cloaks
At least as traditional and spread out like Jedi robes are the cloaks of the Jedi. Like the former, they are made of special, robust and at the same time light materials, which provides the ideal protection from weather effects for the Jedi. They are also used as a means to keep a low profile and vanish in the crowd if necessary.
Jedi cloaks occupy only the cloak slot of the character (except the hood-up variants, which take up the hat slot as well). It is therefore possible to wear everything you can wear with a regular cloak, including a backpack. They cannot be worn over Jedi Robes, because of the Robe’s clothing slot restricitions.
There are no species or gender restrictions for wearing Jedi Cloaks, although some of them are invisible when worn by Wookiees or Ithorians, but still provide full protection and modifiers.

Armor Rating
The Armor rating is a variable in a formula that is used to calculate the percentage of the damage of a hit which is aborbed by the armor.
Formula: PR = (AR/10,000)*60 + ((10,000-AR)/10,000)*(AR/200)
Reduced Formula: PR = 0.011*AR – (5*10^-7) * AR^2
PR…Percentile Resists
AR…Armor Rating
Results:
0 = 0.0%
1400 = 14.4%
3000 = 28.5%
4000 = 36.0%
4500 = 39.4%
5000 = 42.5%
5600 = 45.9%
